What forwarding does

Email forwarding sends a copy of every incoming email from your old inbox to Tramovio. Your old address keeps working normally — nothing changes for people emailing you. This is the core of Tramovio's Transition Mode: both inboxes receive every message simultaneously, so you can't miss anything during the switch.

  1. 1

    Find your Tramovio email address

Log into Tramovio and note your full email address (e.g. yourname@tramovio.eu). You'll add this as the forwarding destination in your old account.

  2. 2

Open forwarding settings in your old provider

Gmail: Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → Add a forwarding address. Outlook: Settings → View all Outlook settings → Mail → Forwarding.

  3. 3

Add your Tramovio address as forwarding destination

Enter your Tramovio email address. Your old provider will send a verification email to Tramovio to confirm the forwarding address.

  4. 4

Confirm the verification email in Tramovio

Check your Tramovio inbox for the verification email from Gmail or Outlook. Click the confirmation link to activate forwarding.

  5. 5

Enable forwarding and choose copy settings

In Gmail: select "Forward a copy of incoming mail to [Tramovio address]" and choose "Keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox". This keeps both inboxes active during Transition Mode.

Provider-specific notes

Gmail

  • Gmail limits forwarding to one address at a time on free accounts.
  • Use "Keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox" to keep both inboxes active.
  • Google Workspace accounts: admins can set forwarding policy restrictions.

Outlook.com

  • Outlook forwards all mail including from newsletters and mailing lists.
  • Enable "Keep a copy of forwarded messages" to retain messages in Outlook.
  • Outlook may add an "external email" banner — this is normal.

Other providers (IMAP)

  • If your provider doesn't support native forwarding, use a mail filter rule.
  • Most cPanel / webmail providers have a "Forwarders" option in settings.
