Before you start

  • You have a Gmail account you want to migrate from
  • You've created a Tramovio account (sign up free)
  • You have access to your Gmail account settings
  1. 1

    Create your Tramovio account

Go to tramovio.com and sign up for a free account. You'll receive your EU email address instantly.

    Get started
  2. 2

    Enable IMAP in Gmail

In Gmail settings, go to Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → Enable IMAP. Save changes.

  3. 3

Start the history import in Tramovio

In Tramovio settings, go to Migration → Import from Gmail. Enter your Gmail credentials and authorize access. The import starts automatically.

  4. 4

Set up forwarding from Gmail to Tramovio

In Gmail settings, go to Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → Add a forwarding address. Enter your Tramovio address and confirm.

  5. 5

    Start notifying your contacts

Begin replying to emails from your Tramovio address. Update key accounts and subscriptions with your new address over the next 7–30 days.

  6. 6

    Cancel Gmail when ready

Once you're confident all contacts have been updated and nothing is missing, you can stop the forwarding and close your Gmail account.

Tips for a smooth migration

  • Don't rush. The 30-day Transition Mode is there for a reason — use it.
  • Update high-priority contacts first: banks, employers, government services.
  • Check your Gmail Sent folder to identify frequent contacts you've emailed recently.
  • Use Gmail's "Last account activity" to check if anything is still actively using the address.
  • Keep Gmail forwarding active for at least 30 days after your last update.
