Migration guide
How to migrate from Outlook to Tramovio
Step-by-step walkthrough for Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 users. Zero data loss, 30-day parallel run.
Before you start
- You have an Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 account
- You've created a free Tramovio account (sign up here)
- For Microsoft 365: confirm IMAP is enabled by your IT admin
- 1
Create your Tramovio account
Sign up at tramovio.com and receive your EU email address immediately. The free plan includes 30-day Transition Mode.
- 2
Enable IMAP in Outlook
In Outlook.com: Settings → View all Outlook settings → Mail → Sync email → Enable IMAP access. For Microsoft 365, your admin may need to enable IMAP.
- 3
Import your email history into Tramovio
In Tramovio, go to Settings → Migration → Import from Outlook. Enter your Microsoft account credentials. Tramovio will import all folders, messages, and attachments.
- 4
Set up forwarding from Outlook to Tramovio
In Outlook.com: Settings → View all Outlook settings → Mail → Forwarding. Enable forwarding and enter your Tramovio address. Keep a copy in Outlook during transition.
- 5
Update contacts and subscriptions
Reply to emails from your new Tramovio address. Update key accounts: banks, employers, subscriptions, government services.
- 6
Close Outlook when ready
After 30 days with forwarding active and all contacts updated, disable forwarding and close your Microsoft account if no longer needed.
Microsoft 365 notes
- If IMAP is blocked by your organisation, contact your IT administrator.
- Microsoft 365 accounts may require an App Password if MFA is enabled.
- Shared mailboxes can be migrated separately — contact Tramovio support.
