Small Detail, Big Clarity: File Type Badges for Attachments

This week, we shipped a small update that makes a surprisingly big difference in daily email use: attachments in Tramovio Mail now show a colour-coded file type badge next to the filename.

At a glance, you can now tell whether you are opening a PDF, a spreadsheet, a presentation, an image, or another file type, without having to stop and decode the filename first.

It is a small visual change, but it solves a very real friction point. In a busy inbox, people do not want to inspect every attachment manually. They want to understand what they are looking at immediately.

That is exactly what this update is designed to do.

What's new

Every attachment in Tramovio Mail now includes a file type badge with a consistent colour cue:

• DOC / DOCX
• XLS / XLSX / CSV
• PPT / PPTX
• Images
• Audio
• Video

These badges appear anywhere attachments are part of the workflow:

• - The reading panel when you open a received email
• - The inline reply composer
• - The main compose window when you attach files before sending

This means the experience stays consistent whether you are reviewing incoming documents, replying with an attachment, or drafting a message from scratch.

Why this matters

Attachments carry a lot of the real work inside email.

Contracts arrive as PDFs. Drafts come through as Word documents. Budgets and exports appear as spreadsheets. Presentations, images, voice notes, recordings, and videos all pass through the inbox every day. In many cases, the attachment is the actual reason the email matters.

When a message includes several files, users should not have to rely only on filenames to understand what is there. Filenames can be inconsistent, truncated, or just hard to parse quickly, especially on a busy day or on a smaller screen.

A visual badge gives you an immediate layer of meaning. Before you read, before you click, before you think too much about it, you already have a useful signal.
